TFA welcomes incoming president Karina Halys

Published Mon 10 Aug 2026

The Tasmanian Fencing Assocation management committee welcomes incoming president, Karina Halys. The committee is fortunate to have Halys step up and into the president role as the association enters its next phase of affiliation with the national body, the Australian Fencing Federation.

Halys has had a long history with the Tasmanian fencing community, coaching and supporting Van Diemens Fencing Club in their Tuesday Tolosa Street Hall and Saturday Tarremah Steiner School Hall locations for more than 6 years and a long and successful fencing career in her home country of Germany.

Halys first joined the committee in 2021 as secretary and has held various roles over the last 5 years. They bring strong connections to the Tasmanian and broader national fencing committee, a breadth of experience and a vision for the future of fencing in Tasmania. The committee is excited to be working Halys in this new chapter of stewardship for fencing in Tasmania.
